Renewing Dignity empowers everyone who menstruates to manage their period safely, confidently, and without shame. As a program of Feeding Northeast Florida, Renewing Dignity ensures essential period supplies reach people who need them most.
Period poverty is a hidden crisis. Each month, thousands of women and girls in our community must choose between purchasing period products, food, or even medicine. Feeding Northeast Florida believes no one should be limited by something as natural as a period. Everyone deserves the ability to manage menstruation safely, with confidence and with dignity.
Why It Matters
One in five low-income women lack access to basic menstrual supplies—impacting approximately 100,000 neighbors in Northeast Florida. Without these essentials, women and girls often miss school and work or are forced to use unsafe, unsanitary alternatives. Because menstrual products are not covered by SNAP (food stamps) or WIC (Women, Infants and Children Program), thousands are left without these necessities. Period poverty is a health, equity, and economic issue – and a barrier to opportunity.
How It Works
Renewing Dignity, dedicated to eliminating period poverty, merged with Feeding Northeast Florida in 2024. The partnership leverages the food bank’s purchasing power and extensive distribution network to reach more neighbors than ever before. In the first year following the merger, we were able to distribute 173,000 tampons and pads across more than 400 partners agencies and food programs. This year, we expect that number to grow to _________. Together, we are expanding dignity every day of the month.
