Hunger affects more than 272,000 of our neighbors locally and millions of individuals and families throughout the United States. Walmart and Sam’s Club recognize the challenge and are facing it head-on through their Fight Hunger. Spark Change. initiative, which provides nationwide support and tremendous local impact.
This campaign transforms everyday purchases into tangible meals for those in need by uniting customers, corporate partners, and local food banks. In partnership with the Feeding America network, the program has provided nearly 2 billion meals to food-insecure individuals since 2014.
How the Campaign Works
The Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign is a collaborative effort between Walmart, Sam’s Club, their supplier partners, and Feeding America’s nationwide network of food banks. During the month of March, customers have three ways to make an impact.

- Purchasing participating products: Brands like General Mills, Kraft Heinz, and Pepsi-Cola donate meals for every designated product bought.
- Donating at checkout: Customers can round up their total, or donate a specific dollar amount, in Walmart and Sam’s Club stores or when purchasing from the retailers online.
- Giving through Feeding America: Supporters can donate via Feeding America’s website, where every $1 equates to at least 10 meals for those in need.
Impact at the National and Local Levels
Since its inception, Fight Hunger. Spark Change. has raised over $206 million, supplying food banks in the Feeding America network with resources to support communities nationwide. More than 5,000 Walmart and Sam’s Club stores participate each year, ensuring that funds and donations stay local, benefiting food banks closest to where donations are made.
At Feeding Northeast Florida, we continually witness the impact of this initiative firsthand. Last Thanksgiving, associates at Walmart Store #5037 in Yulee, Florida, worked diligently to ensure food distributions reached 2,000 families, allowing them to maintain cherished holiday traditions. Throughout the year, Walmart and Sam’s Club continue to donate fresh produce, dairy, and meats daily, allowing families to prepare meaningful, culturally relevant meals.
